Meet your Teacher
I started my yoga journey in a 104 degree room using physical exhaustion as a way to escape my mind. However, as time went on and I dug deeper I realized slowing down my practice was the best way to heal my relationship with myself. It was the art of being rather than doing that helped balance my nervous system.

Mind on Yoga Academy
BY ALAUNA ROBY
This academy combines psychological research studies and ancient yogic philosophy to explain how the mind is affected by a regular practice of yoga. Also, we explore how you can actively use yoga to change the state of your nervous system and improve your overall mental health
Psychological Research and Yogic Philosophy
In these bite-sized lectures, we discuss topics such as mindfulness, state of flow, self awareness, emotional intelligence, the subtle body, attention restoration theory, default mode network, shinrin-yoku, yoga's biological effect on the nervous system, how to practice trauma-informed yoga and more.
Mental Health Yoga Classes
Each yoga class is filmed in beautiful locations in nature. They are designed to help you practice what you learn in the lessons! The goal of the classes is not to perfect the postures. Rather, we are using the postures as a way to become more aware of what is happening in the body and mind, because you can't heal what you are not aware of.
Pranayama & Meditations
Taking what you learn in the lessons and yoga asana, we will continue to implement what you are learning with guided breathwork and meditation practices. Each practice is designed to help you become aware of how your breathing and your mental state affect your physical experience of life.
Journaling Exercises and Workbook
After each yoga class you will be asked to respond to a few journal prompts. This is an essential part of the course, as it is encouraging you to cultivate more self awareness through self reflection. I encourage a light hearted approach to it! Printable PDF Journaling Workbook included.
While studying for her Bachelors in Psychology, Alauna took a course titled "The Mind on Drugs." In this course the professor discussed all of the most common drugs, both pharmaceutical and illegal, and their affects on the mind. It was in this class that Alauna realized she wanted to take a more holistic approach to mental health after graduation. Deep down, she knew there had to be a way to heal without all the crazy side effects.
In another psychology course, Alauna learned about yoga and mindfulness meditation, and how they could help reduce anxiety, stress, depression, and more. It was here that Alauna's personal yoga practice began, and where the passion was born to later create "The Mind on Yoga" academy.
